Who we are

Family law touches some of the most personal and stressful moments in life; from separation, arrangements for children or dividing a home. When you’re in the middle of it, the hardest part is often simply understanding where you stand and what your options are.

Trust Family Law is here to help with exactly that. We provide clear, reliable guidance for families across England and Wales who want to understand their situation, whether they’re working things out themselves, preparing to speak to a solicitor, or somewhere in between. Good, trustworthy information helps people make better decisions, ask better questions, and feel more in control of what happens next.

What we cover

Our guidance is organised around the four areas that matter most to families in England and Wales:

  • Children & Co-Parenting — child arrangements, co-parenting, and putting children first through separation
  • Divorce & Separation — the divorce process, finances on divorce, and life afterwards
  • Legal Agreements & Property — prenuptial and cohabitation agreements, declarations of trust, and property rights
  • Domestic Abuse & Support — non-molestation and occupation orders, safety planning, and where to turn for help

Why we exist

For decades, families who couldn’t afford a solicitor could turn to legal aid for help. Today, that safety net has been drastically reduced. Funding cuts have taken most private family law matters out of the scope of legal aid, and the result is that more people than ever now face separation, child arrangements and court proceedings entirely on their own.

Many don’t qualify for the limited legal aid that remains. Others can’t meet the cost of private representation. So they represent themselves, completing court forms, preparing for hearings, and making decisions about their children, their homes and their finances without anyone to explain how any of it works.

We don’t think understanding your own situation should depend on what you can afford. That’s why Trust Family Law exists: to put clear, trustworthy family law guidance within reach of everyone who needs it, so that whatever you decide to do next, and whoever you turn to for help, you do it from a position of knowledge rather than uncertainty.

Clarity. Confidence. Control.

That’s what we’re here to give you. Clarity about the law and your options. Confidence to make decisions that are right for your family. And control over a process that too often leaves people feeling powerless.

An important note

Trust Family Law is part of Trust Brand Limited (Company Registration No. 15958093). We are not a law firm. We are not regulated. The guidance on this site is general legal information — not legal advice.

The difference matters. General information explains how the law works and what your options might be. Legal advice applies the law to your specific circumstances, and only a qualified solicitor or barrister, instructed directly, can provide it. The guidance here is intended to help you understand your situation and make informed decisions; it is not a substitute for professional legal advice tailored to your case, which we would always recommend obtaining where your matter requires it.
